This past weekend held the first (hopefully of many) “Team Draft” style events! There were 8 captains, who got to draft team mates from a list of over 45 players! Team Rankstar had two members as captains, HeyWhyYou and ThePlatypusKing. Each team ended up having 5 members, with 5 different “non-power unified” decks, meaning “you may not play more than 4 copies of a non-power card across all your decklists, with the exception of Seek Power (you may play up to 20 copies of Seek Power, max 4 per deck).” More on the rules here! There were a ton of different decks represented, ranging from format staples like AP Mid, Chalice and Praxis, to old favorites like Vodakombo and Grenadins. Congrats to the winners

One of the best aspects of an event like this is that it brought the community together in a unique way: it gave an opportunity for players to rub shoulders with some established names. I think some folks were nervous to be apart of something new and different, but with how well (I believe) the event was received, I bet the turnout would be larger in the future. Similarly, giving the opportunity for players to collaborate on creative deck building is a very unique feature of this event, and one I hope to see more of!

A few things shook up last week most notably the Jotun Feast Caller buff – now they can live in their rightful home standing side by side with hailstorm – of course this means a few things and breathes some new life into our old friends – hooru and feln control! The triple primal influence does require you to be as close to two faction as possible but maybe there is a home in moment of creation? we didn’t include them in this weeks moment deck as it was before the patch but i’m sure we will be revisiting that deck very soon.

Feln was the easiest list to put together and now we don’t have to make concessions for vara we can very happily include feast caller in the mix and really get our beat on.

I’m pretty confident too that there is a Hooru midrange deck that wants to put a weapon on the hungry Jotun, as well as Auric Runehammer doing a great job at clearing the way for you to make some easy attacks! I believe that Runehammer will do a great job in Primal mirrors as an easy answer to our newly buffed friend. We haven’t quite covered the other changes in this weeks videos, but I don’t doubt for a second I’ll be back on Nostrix-Porter with the changes to Press-Gang. Maybe the old Spellcrag lists can be revisited now we have a cheaper Kaleb ultimate and a hungry hungry yeti to curve into. Of course I’ve not even mentioned how good the brush monster can be with killer but it’ll take a while to figure out that build of Xenan Killers!
