1 Razorquill (Set6 #210)
1 Regent’s Tomb (Set5 #213)

Katra’s Twist is a pure combo deck that seeks to go infinite with Razorquill to ping your enemy to death one point at a time. Let’s take a closer look at the three combo pieces:

The Combo

4 x Katra, the devoted
4 x Razorquill
4 x Stained Honor

The Combo works like this: With Razorquill and Stained Honor in play, you can twist Razorquill as many times as you like as long as it has health to spare, and that’s where Katra Comes in. Because Razorquill drains our opponents for a health, we gain life and trigger Katra, giving Razorquill +1/+1, thus nullifying the health loss form the twist mechanic, meaning that you can infinitely ping your opponent to death.

However, It’s never as easy as just slamming your combo pieces onto the battle field since fast-speed removal and harsh rule exists, so we need some resiliency to glue things together. Enter Shift, Eternal’s newest mechanic.

Recursion

4 x Reweave
2 x Remembrance

Shift is a game changer for creature based combo decks, granting them protection from everything but sweepers like harsh rule. Being able to Play reshape on your four or five-drops and bring out a combo piece is really good, and Remembrance is an absolutely insane rate for one power, though you can only bring back Stained Honor here, so it only makes it in as a two of.

4 x Haunting Scream

What is dead may never die. This card has seen play in literally every meta-game since its release, and I don’t expect that to change unless they implement rotation in some way shape or form. It does what it does best here, enabling a powerful combo by returning Katra or Razorquill back from the void on a pivotal turn for just two mana. But first, we have to put things into the void for that to work:

The Discard Package

4 x Gustrider
4 x Sporefolk
1 x Lightning Sprite
4 x Privilege of Rank

Gust strider is the newest addition to the suite of efficient discard effects that we already have, and is arguably the most efficient and powerful if you can trigger Onslaught consistently. It synergizes nicely with Crownwatch Press-Gang, which can fetch a Gustrider, and the be the target of Reweave on the next turn. While Gustrider can be a fine tool for discarding, Sporefok  is a bit more of a hammer. It’s probably the most efficient way to simply dump cards into your void, putting five in at a time. A singleton Lightning Sprite rounds out our discard cards, being a nice effect and a reasonable flying body in a pinch.

Privilege of Rank goes from being a medium playable spell to being a busted card thanks to all the discarding we are doing. Going turn two Sporefolk, discarding some combo pieces and a Privilege of rank is a pretty explosive start!

Filling in the Cracks – Removal and such

4 x Crownwatch Press-Gang
4 x Jotun Hurler
2 x Permafrost
2 x Suffocate
3 x Desecrate

Rounding out the main deck, we have Crownwatch Press-Gang, which is important for two reasons. For one, it fetches Gustrider, allowing you to draw and discard to set up your combo, Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Press-Gang can be targeted by Reweave, being able to find any one of your combo pieces. Jotun Hurler is a nice way to give you something to market away and the snowball isn’t irrelevant, as there are a lot of X-1 units in the meta. The removal suite is pretty basic, though it’s worth noting that all the spells are cheap enough that you will usually be able to kill a unit and develop your board on the same turn.

The Market

4 x Kerendon Merchant
Haunting Scream
Last Chance
Razorquill
Regent’s Tomb
Desecrate

In the market, we have a couple of redundant combo pieces in Scream and Razorquill, as well as removal in Desecrate. Regents tomb will provide you with a four-for-one against Control, and last Chance is also very interesting here, allowing you a little bit more resiliency against removal.
